Meet Edher – Customer Service Representative, Keating
What inspired you to work at The Liquor Co. 1977?
I am inspired by the opportunity to build customer relationships, so I am grateful to have started my career in Canada as a Customer Service Representative at The Liquor Co. 1977. Every day, I am excited to connect with customers and exchange cultural insights while having significant conversations about the world of liquors. Also, I find it interesting that the new Liquor Business Unit at Peninsula Co-op has considerable growth potential, so I look forward to contributing to the company’s plans and developing my career in the long term.
What’s a typical day like for you?
A typical workday involves greeting my colleagues, catching up on the day´s latest news, identifying which products need to be stocked on shelves and coolers, and checking on day´s new tasks. Every day I have the opportunity to connect with our customers, and guide them based on their needs, always striving to offer products that represent a solution to them. It’s important to highlight that the work environment and the people at the store where I work are so friendly, which makes the workday pleasant.
What’s a favourite memory or moment you’ve had while working here?
I have a few favourite memories working at The Liquor Co. 1977 involving our staff and customers. I enjoyed it at different times when customers asked me for wine recommendations and after a couple of days, they came back to the store and let me know that they enjoyed my recommendation. That situation feels rewarding. Also, one of my favourite funny moments from our staff is when I accidentally broke a bottle of wine and my co-workers laughed about it and said “Welcome to the store”, because in this business, everyone has broken a bottle at least once.
If you could recommend one drink to someone new, what would it be and why?
A good recommendation requires knowing and understanding the customer´s preferences, but if the customer needs advice, I would recommend the Tom Gore Red Blend wine because it is a versatile, high-quality wine with fruity notes. I think it has a great flavour, as I enjoy slightly sweet wines.
How does working at Peninsula Co-op enhance your experience or align with your values?
I enjoy being part of Peninsula Coop because it is a reputable company with a long-standing presence in Victoria. I like to work at companies that contribute to improving people´s quality of life and Peninsula Coop shares the same principle because it offers high-quality products and services to its customers. Also, I like companies that focus on their employees as well, and at Peninsula Co-op, I find a pleasant work environment and favourable conditions to perform my tasks efficiently, while as an employee I can have access to benefits and training opportunities aimed at fostering professional and personal development.
Additionally, I like there is a strong sense of belonging to the brand, shared by both external customers and internal employees, which fosters solid business and working relationships.
