Meet Jay – Assistant Manager, Six Mile
How long have you been with The Liquor Co. 1977?
I’ve been with The Liquor Co. Since December 2021
What do you enjoy about your work?
I enjoy meeting all the new people we see in our store every day and interacting with our regulars. I also enjoy the merchandising of all the new products we get to display; it’s a little bit like Tetris making everything presentable!
What’s your current favourite drink?
My fav Gin to mix is Empress 1908 Indigo Gin. It has a dark blueish-purple hue that comes from a unique source: the butterfly pea blossom. Butterfly pea flower infusion changes the gin to purple and will also change to various shades of pink and light lavender depending on the mixer.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My favourite hobbies are hiking our amazing trails around & riding my bike. I’m also a big bookworm and read 2-3 books per week.
Do you have a favorite restaurant or local spot in greater Victoria?
I absolutely love Mexican food and my favourite spot is MAiiZ Nixtamal Eatery & Tortilleria. Chef Israel Alvarez Molina brought his authentic Mexican style here and I can’t enough of it!
